The last hour is best summed up by one of the backers who just sent me an email titled "Better than a Day at the Races!". In it, they say:
"What a great Kickstarter Campaign! Especially the last hour. It was like watching a horse race where you’re allowed to run up to the wicket & increase your bet as your horse is approaching the finish line."
I'm almost speechless with the show of support for this whole project. Especially the last 24 hours or so. I set the stretch goal of €42,000 as an ambitious target that I didn't really expect to reach, given all that's going on in the world at the moment.
It's very humbling to see the push you all made to get us as close as we did. Thank you so much to all the backers! You have made it possible for me to realize a long held ambition in the production of this book. You've also given me a cushion to help protect my business during these crazy times we live in. I'm so very grateful for both of those! It means a lot to see how valued my work is, and reinforces how lucky I am to be able to do what I love for a living.
Even though we didn't quite make it to the stretch goal, as a thank-you I'm delighted to say that I will be sending out the stretch goal print anyway! So you can look forward to that along with your other pledge rewards.
I'll update you again with progress on the book and maybe some more sneak peaks. Until then, stay safe!
Thanks to you all for your continued support of this project! We're on track for an incredibly strong finish and the stretch goal of €42,000 is well within reach. The response in the last 48 hours in particular has been wonderful. Please continue to share the project on your social media! We're in the home stretch now with less than 24 hours to go - the project ends tomorrow just before noon, Irish time.
I'm very grateful for all you've done and am looking forward to completing the book and getting the printing process underway. I'll be sure and update you when the book is ready for print and when we have a date set.
In the meantime, here are a few more images to tide you over.
I'm working away on preparing the book and thought you'd like to see some new and previously unreleased images.
I love the subtle colours and tones in these images. Being able to photograph at sunrise and sunset here is a rare privilege. It can be tempting to be disappointed when not every dawn or dusk is full of spectacular colour, but often it's the more subdued light that is the best.
Thank you all again for your support! Please continue to spread the word about the project and help us get to the stretch goal - it's definitely within reach. I can't wait to share the finished book with you!
Cheers, Peter
I continue to be amazed and delighted by the response to this project. It's always scary to hit the button to go live on a project like this. You never know if all you'll hear in response are crickets chirping, with perhaps the odd tumbleweed rolling past. Thank you all again for your wonderful support!
As I say in the previous update, this is just the beginning. Please keep pushing and let's move the project forward. With that in mind, I've added a stretch goal:
What will this achieve? It will provide much needed funds to help keep my business afloat. It will help me to hang on to my staff. That's all well and good, say you - but what benefit will you get? I will include a signed 9x6" print of one of my unique nocturnal photographs on Skellig Michael with all reward levels, free of charge.
That's pretty cool. So please, continue to spread the word and share the project on social media, tell your friends and family and let's make this happen! If you've already pledged for a book, please consider upgrading to multiple books or add another print!
I'm looking forward to getting the books and prints out to you. I know you'll enjoy them as much as I'm enjoying making the book!
Cheers,
Peter
